Zayd Ahmed achieves an exceptional outcome in a drug importation case involving 180 kilograms of cannabis.
Zayd was instructed to represent a defendant charged, along with eight others, with importing large quantities of cannabis from New York.
At a Newton hearing, Zayd presented evidence demonstrating that the defendant was acting under the direction of another individual and played a limited role in the conspiracy. This evidence was based on materials obtained during the police investigation.
The judge accepted Zayd’s submissions and, following substantial mitigation, imposed a sentence of two years’ custody.
